That long post is not really saying much to the contrary.  It's the distances between blue to blue and red to red causing the chroma smoothing.

Even Fuji's jpegs and Silkypix, while being better than Adobe, aren't issue free.  It's about what one considers good enough.

Again, using unique color filters isn't exactly a mind blowing, cutting edge decision.  There's a reason that bayer has lasted this long.
