Good for you.

Most photographers get wrapped around the axle when it comes to sharpness and focus solely on that one metric to the point of being an obsession.  They chase after it like a fool chasing the wind.

But it does not make them better photographers.  Its like giving a blind man reading glasses.

If one is serious about sharpness in a point in shoot camera with a pancake lens they should compare their Sony NEX camera with the Sigma 30 lens to the Sigma DP-2 Merril camera.  But once that sharpness bubble is popped they will turn to other excuses for producing lame photographs, like sensor noise or lens speed or not enough pixels or lack of image stabilization, etc, etc.

Good luck with your photography and improve the weakest link, the person behind the viewfinder.  Learn to see.  When you do you will see the greatest improvement in your work.
