Macbook Pro question about processors & RAM

I run PS CS6, LR 4.2, about 10 Safari windows simultaneously and this orning was using Transmit to move a 7GB batch of image files using cable internet access and my Late '11 13" MBP w/the 2.8MHz Dual Core didnt stutter. Only upgrade I did was to put 16GB RAM on board after it started impacting the process rate when I had a lot of stuff running
