D600 Possible AF-A Mode Bug
Oct 8, 2012

I just noticed what I think is a D600 anomaly when shooting in AF-A mode, Single-point AF selected. The lens is the Nikkor 85mm f1.8G. The problem is the same in whatever exposure PASM mode is selected.

In AF-A mode, with Single-point focus, the focus is supposed to follow the selected subject when it's moving (assuming the shutter release button is halfway down.) It does, but only when the selected  focus point moves towards the camera. If the subject moves away from the camera, the focus does not adjust. In other words, tracking from far to close works; tracking from close to far does not.

When doing the same experiment in AF-C mode, focus tracks properly in both directions.

I'd call this a bug, or???
