The whole "made in ..." is actually a bit misleading. It would be better to put "assembled in ..." on almost all products these days.
Things (wheter its lenses or anything else) that show "made in China" probably have parts in it that are made in 20 different countries. And that's not only valid for China. Same can be said for things made in Japan or the USA.
