Flash choices for use w/ OM-D
I'm looking at starting to build out a decent flash system to use with my OM-D, and I don't really understand the options out there.
What I see quite clearly is that there is a huge price difference between, say, a Yongnuo YN-560, and the Olympus FL-600R. So I could get 4-5 of the Yongnuos for the cost of one FL-600R. I get the sense that the Oly would give me some control/metering options the Yongnuo wouldn't, but as Uncle Joe Stalin once said, "quantity has a quality all its own."
Anyway, can anyone help me understand what the choices are, and what benefit I might gain from each? I'm not opposed to spending more if it's buying into a system that will have more long-term value as I add to it.
I have bought three used Metz 48 AF-1 flashes, updated the firmware, and now they are fully compatible with wireless TTL flash on my E-M5. The three flashes cost me just a bit more than one new FL36R would have cost - they were about 75 to 80 euros each.
Great bargain. You could also look at the Metz 50 AF-1, it is the successor of the 48, which you can buy new. It is more powerful than the Oly options, except the FL50R which is much more expensive.
