Photographing 16:9
Oct 7, 2012

I find myself shooting a lot in 16:9 ratio and I think that with all the new TV's that are almost exclusively 16:9 as well as computer monitors, that people are all getting used to seeing things in this format.  I know that I personally have been shooting mostly in this format for my printing on 19X13 paper with a 16X9 image.  It really is an interesting challenge to find ways to shoot 16:9 when ordinarily it would be 4:3, especially people.  I watch and study current new movies how they handle closeups etc. Using a grid on the camera also helps to compose.   Here is a shot I caught during my walk with the Drakester (Drake the black lab) in the park today, nothing really special, but pleasant.  Like the rest of the trees framed the special red tree near center.  Best viewed at original size.

Be careful how you interpret the world: It is like that.
