In the lens section of Fuji's X100 web site the lens engineers explicitly state the lens is not deigned for macro work at apertures wider than f 4.

For close up work the EVF should be used because  the OVF has parallax error. The OVF display can estimate the  parallax focus point shift, but this is only an estimate. The EVF focus region is always exactly what the lens sees. As the subject distance increases, the parallax error decreases and the estimated shift in the OVF AF region becomes more useful.
