I have the 70-300L and I used to have a 7d. It was an awesome combination. The speed, compact size and great IQ made it a great travel kit. The lens really balances well on the 7d. The build quality on the 70-300L is amazing. It is a great value and can be found used for $1000. The 1.6 crop of the 7d gives it great reach.
