28mm lens thoughts...

I am curious if anyone has tried to use the old 28mm f/1.4 on a D800/E

That lens always had such an amazing reputation, up there with the Noct 58mm but I wonder if it transitions well to the world of 36MP, especially since its fame was that it was so good at f/1.4 and a great many lenses which looked great at f/1.4 on a D700 don't hold up so well on the D800/E.

Anyone tried taking pics with that combo? Thinking prices might drop on the f1.4 model now Nikon made the relatively affordable f/1.8.
