Newbie question. NEX-5 or NEX-5n?

In looking around ro make a trade deal for some m4/3rds gear in exchange for a couple of my nice DSLR lenes, I was offered a NEX-5 and 18-55 lens.  I know nothing about the NEX system except how it looks.  So, is this still a good camera and lens?  I see where the 5n is the newer and "improved" NEX-5.

Is that improvement so significant that I shouldn't bother entertaining the acquisition of the NEX-5?

What else can you tell me and what should I know?   Smaller camera with a decent sized sensor does have it's appeal.  Hence my searching in the first place.
