UK Specific question about Youth Hostels and accommodation to be out pre dawn.

A little off topic, but can anyone tell me if you can you get up and out (quietly!) early morning when staying in a UK Youth Hostel, or are the doors locked until 7:00am or something?

I have it in mind that was possibly the case years ago, but it's a long time since I've stayed on a Youth Hostel. I'm looking for budget accommodation to stay near location and get out early. Initially in Cumbria, so hostels like the one in Langdale and Borrowdale.

If anyone has any recommendations for other places in Cumbria where it's possible to book at late notice (when weather conditions are broadly predictable) and get out early, please let me know.

Also Scotland, but need to look at more than just an overnight stay there, so would probably be looking at self catering cottages. If you know any good cottages in great locations I'd really like to know them please.
