D800 - Cards Full

I actually found several times that even though the card said full there was more then 50mb of space left on it when I put the card in a computer to download the files.  This might be somehow related to your question or a way to ensure that data corruption is minimized since it commonly occurs (I am told) when shooting right to the full mark.
