I've used my D800 in a recent 2-week trip through England and Wales recently and photographed in various conditions hand-held only. For low-light candid-shots I went as low as 1/50sec with a very high keeper-rate, comparable to using my D700. With good technique you don't have to be afraid of the D800. Just enjoy it!
