D300-D300s-D7000?

I have been shooting with a D7000 for 3 months now.  I recently took it to Alaska, where I took right at 5,000 pictures over a 2 week period.  I have since taken several thousand more since getting home.

Right out of the box I THOUGHT I had focus issues.  I reset the focus type for what I was shooting, and BAM  I have had very few, if any problems.

I took hundreds of photos of Eagles in flight, to whales out in the ocean, landscapes, moonrises & sunsets, macro photos using extension tubes, and everything in between.  The ONLY time I can remember having a focus issue, was when I took photos of a Tug Boats' light as it came towards us thru a fog, in near total dark.
