Nikon 300mm 2.8 AF-S II or AF-S VR

I have both the first gen AFS 300 and the newist one... I shoot sports and keep the VR off, but if you can swing it I would get a VR one the VR is so nice is so many situations.

As far as AF motors go the only one I lost has been a very old 400 2.8 AF-I.... the 400 AFS lenses I use most of the time must have well over 500,000 shots through it (and some abuse that goes along with shooting sports)
