G3 Burnt Highlights problem , need help-suggestions!!!!!
Feb 6, 2003

I need help with highlights and the G3, it seems whatever I do I end up with burnt highlights, I processed the same RAW pic with canon fileviewer utility and powershovel II, The Canon product burnt the highlights like there is no tomorrow, PSII preserved the highlights at the cost of less contrast and an off gamma curve. When I correct the levels in PS7 the PSII pic ends up with burnt highlights as well. I included 2 examples, I do not think that the picture has such high contrasts, I believe film or transparency would have handled the contrast just fine, any comments regading the prolem above are welcome

RAW pic shot in color processed with fileviewer and desaturated in PS7 and JPEGED:

Same RAW pic processed in PSII, and desaturated in PS7 using different algorithim than the grayscale option in image menu:

Thanks, Labib
