I was running some flash lighting tests with my sb80 when I thought
I'd give my old cannon 199A a try on shoe and with the SB-80 in
slave mode into a reflector for fill. Well I came to find out that
the cannon flash can sync at 1/180 of a second when mounted on the
S2 set on (M). There is only a three pin configuration on the 199A
shoe which doesn"t seem to give the camera enough info to lock in a
max of 1/125. Any shutter speed faster than that showed the curtain
effect.

Thanks for reading

That is any speed faster than 1/180

Yes non ttl operation of flash will allow for 1/180.
