It could be possible the modified GH2 sensor was originally intended for the Gh3

DxO test results shows that there are no really any modifications noticeable, so it is highly doubtful that it was ever intended to be used in GH3, rather existing process was used to continue to manufacture it while either spare capacity (which was used to make other sensors) was retooled to make GH3 sensor or GH3 fabrication was outsourced ... you can as well assume the Panasonic just developed a plain 4/3 sized sensor to save on cost (more sensors from the same wafer = cheaper, higher yield, can sell to Olympus as it is not multiaspect and Olympus does not need to change IBIS)... you assumption is based on a theory that nobody can ( ever ) design/fab low read noise sensors by using multiple ADC on die except Sony Semiconductor itself... Sony is good, but there are no fundamental reasons why nobody else can not repeat that.
