Sony A99 vs Nikon D600 First high iso comparison

For your perusal here is possibly the first side by side comparison photo at iso 6400 between the D600 and the A99. The D600 Nikon is on the left and the Sony A99 is on the right.

We all understand that this is not the most scientific comparison but it is a good starting evaluation especially in the gray color. To my eye it looks like there is a lot more noise in the Sony rendition. I also note far more desaturation in the A99 photo. The complete D600 photo can be seen at this site and the A99 at a Spanish site.

In my careful but rudimentary, non prescision, evaluation of the remainder of all the photos in both full iso series, I would guestimate that the Nikon is at least one stop and more likely two stops better at noise than the Sony and with possibly better resolution than the Sony at iso 6400.

Note - no processing of these photos except cropping for comparison was done.

More to follow.

You are entirely out of your mind. I only initiated the thread about the A77 and that was about a year ago. Since then everything I said in that series has been shown to be entirely true about the A77. Get a life. How many nasty pills do you take each day?
