In reply to Lelly, Oct 3, 2012

Just did some tests with my A37 and the internal flash. The camera seems to fire the flash to focus. And it fires a series of flashes before the exposure when I enable red-eye reduction.

I usually use an old Metz flash in automatic mode. The camera does not fire the flash to focus but uses the Metz focus light (some kind of fancy red grid) but only to take the picture.

It's an 32MZ-3 with SCA 3301. So I do not have pre-flash TTL and have to enter ISO and the aperture myself (SCA 3302 M8 would give me pre-flash TTL but didn't buy one yet. A $50 adapter for a $20 flash seems weird to me. Even if the flash is absolutely worth that adapter).
