It's a good thing that I wrote in. The camera seemed to be so solid that I thought "Close up" flash units would work, now I know better. Maybe a ring light, but I don't think I'll be using this camera for such close ups. The camera does feel really solid, but I have the whole set up for the Nikon, not just the R1 (and that has close to a hundred pieces, it comes in it's own "shoe box" size case) Not only that, I have the bellows and focusing stage too. The Canon G1 X is everything I thought it would be. The original reason for this camera was to carry this when I want to go light, not too much to carry, but still can take some great pictures. I have the Speedlite 270EX that I had bought for the G9. Oh, and I now have three filter/adapter sets for quick filter changes via bayonet mount.
For those having trouble focusing and shooting fast enough, I'm thinking they did not print & read the manual, and recheck the settings. There's also a book "Canon Powershot G1 X" by David Taylor $19.95 US. It also has the laminated "Quick Reference folding card" that pops out of the last page. I think the only time I'll regret buying this is when/or if the next model comes out: G2 X, G3 X etc. But I also thought, It wasn't such a big seller, maybe this will be the last! I'm kinda glad that there's not too many out there, I hate hearing "I've got one of those too" Maybe the price tag helped that. For those that replied, thank you for all the help, I do appreciate it. ... Joe Prete
