The lens on X-5 goes quite a bit wider (22,3mm vs 26mm equivalent). Most improved was video capturing: while X70 had only 720p @15fps the new X-5 has 1080p @30fps and also 720p @30-60fps. Shutter lag was an issue at X70, while X-5 has better/faster AF and overall speed. Among other things battery life is better on X-5.
