Below and out/behind. Thats why the ladder is curved. "Almost" underneath is not underneath. Like "kinda" pregnant.

The angle of that ladder just wouldn't contribute to any reflections off the boot in my opinion.

I dont know what mythbusters did, nor do I care. They do not have very good scientific method.

It seems others disagree and point to that, and the comparison I posted as evidence that the photograph posted by the OP was completely natural. Its far from the mark as far as I'm concerned.
