The mirror is very light so most likely amount of vibrations will be not more than in usual SLR camera. Fragility of mirror is also not obvious - yes it is thin film but it is placed into hard frame. Nothing should damage it.

In worst case little slower mechanical processing will avoid both problems. I would be happy to accept little slower SLR mode of SLT camera.

IMHO flipable mirror is possible but will make Sony cameras more expensive than competitors.

But generally it is not problem for Sony at all - they sell theirs sensors in both SLT and SLR designs and make money from both. That's one more reason not to bother with mirror flipping.
