The deer picture looks like a focus error to me. The subject is tricky. A polarizer can also fool the autofocus.
The 50-200mm is a decent lens for the price, but I don't recommend shooting it wide open. Optimum apertures are F7 for 50-100mm and F8-9 for the long end.
