Higher shutter speed in Canon SX150IS

You probably pushing the lens to the far end which allow a maximum aperture F5.6 only, that's the lens' limit. Try pull back to wide angle, you'll get a bigger aperture.

In your case, you've to slow down your shutter speed if using ISO 1600 still not sufficient, or use a flash.
