To get the advantages of SLT.

Just use a SLR. I hear Nikon has a model that uses the Sony sensor.

There's no technical limitations that prevent building a dual-mode SLT/SLR. It will be somewhat more expensive, but for cameras like the A77 and A99 the added cost may be justified by convincing some SLT-nay-sayers that Sony is a viable platform.
