Aperture is a function of the lens - it does not change with format.

Same applies to focal length, but the OP was asking about equivalent focal length and relative aperture.

Depth of field (for the same aperture) is is affected by whether DX or FX.

What I think you want to do is to use a 50mm f1.4 on DX to get a similar angle of view to 85mm on FX without changing focus distance .

If you do this exposure does not change but DOF does. You will get approximately f2 FX DOF at f1.4 on the DX body.

We get the same exposure because we have the International Standards Organisation, more commonly known as ISO.
