Nikon D600 with old Nikon lens

I am planning to buy Nikon D600 to use with my old Nikon lens: 28-70 2.8 ED AFS, but my friend told me it is not a good lens to use with new Nikon D600. I need a new lens like Nikon 24-70 2.8G VR because if I use my old lens, I will see more noise ?. I don't know it is true or not. Any experience with this combination D600 with Nikon old lens. Thanks
