G1 X or G12 ?

I keep seeing the negative comments about speed to focus of the G1X, is the G12 faster?

I am interested in either a G1X or G12 as a good all around camera. G1X is about the cost of two G12's and so, I'd want it to be a lot better. But then, the G12 may do the job of simple photos of family and friends, etc.
