200% resample (twice as many pixels going up, twice as many going sideways) = 4x as many pixels.

I uderstand you are talking about square inches or acres, but that is not how resolution values work. You need to consider each dimension seperately. For example 100 pixels up x 200% = 200 pixels. 100 pixels across x 200% = 200 pixels.

100 x 100 = 10,000
200 x 200 = 40,000
