Turn photography hobby into job

I recently lost my job and I haven't had any luck finding something else yet. I was wondering if anyone here started out in photography by taking senior pictures or family pictures. It would have to be outside, as I don't have a studio. If anyone has any advice on how to get started, please let me know. I've owned a DSLR for almost 10 years but I'd still consider myself somewhat of a beginner. I also have Photoshop Elements to help with pictures but I don't know where I would send them to get them made or anything. I have a nice photo printer but I'm guessing somewhere else could do even better.
