1D X w/ raw mode -- what features can I ignore?
Sep 29, 2012

I always capture in raw mode and muck with the images later. I might change that habit but not now.

I just got a new 1D X (my first upgrade since 2005 1Ds Mk II). There are a lot of features like "Picture Style Characteristics" (page 129 of the manual) that alter the image in one way or another. There are many such features. I'm assuming such features usually do not apply to raw mode. In raw mode, I'm going to get what is on the chip.

One exception to that is the noise reduction. So, not all such features do not apply.

Does anyone have a list of the features that do affect raw mode and those that do not? It seems like a big request but I thought I would start a thread and perhaps folks can add to it.

Thank you,

Canon EOS-1D X Canon EOS-1Ds
