D800: What Are The White and Pink Spots ?

I've started to PP some recent shots taken with the 800.

I've noticed on a photo of some theatre seats, that the entire photo is covered with white and pink dots.

I've also had a quick look through other photos from the trip and other photos (mainly which feature red as the main colour) also have the dots in places.

I'm not sure if it's just easier to see against red, or if red is causing the problem.

Not only that, but, I think I'm the only person on the world to have left side focusing problems whilst using LiveView, but not using ViewFinder focusing, but that's another story.

Below are just two 200% screen grabs to show you what I mean.
The lens was a Nikon 24-70, 30sec @f9 ISO 100.
