1D/1Ds Mark II, III, IV and 1DX: Saving multiple settings to card and compatibility
I have a IDs Mark II.
One of the nice features is that I can save all the settings to a Save Settings File which is then stored on the memory card (for recall later or for use in someone else's camera)
Now I what I want to know is the following:
( 1 ) Is it possible to have multiple Settings Files on the one card?
I noted that the file has a file name "canset_d.csd".
Thinking that the important part of that file name is the three letter "".csd" extension I tried to save three or so files on the memory card with different names such as "canon.csd" and "settings.csd" and stuff like that. The trick didn't work as the camera recognised just one file, the original "canset_d.csd"
( 2 ) Cross compatibility
Obviously, I can use my Settings File in any other 1Ds Mark II. But is it possible to use it in later bodies, or for files from later bodies to be used in earlier models?
What i am thinking, or should I say hoping, is that Canon were smart enough to allow cross commpatibility between different generations of body but that cameras reading a Settings File from a earlier or later camera body would simply ignore those settings that weren't compatible. That would make for an extremely easy upgrade path.
I hope you can be of assistance and I look forward to your reply.
Thanks in advance
Regards all,
