What lens did you use? Your exif says the shot was at 300mm and f3.5. Not many lens can do that. The only one I can think of is the 300mm f2.8 (minolta/sony/sigma).

If so, you had an easier job of focusing than the Canon fellow, whose best apperture is f4 (if I'm guessing well).
