I do not find it irrelevant on my 5n with the viewfinder attached. I use the touch screen to quickly position the focus point to the area of the screen I want, and then compose in the viewfinder. Not to mention the use of the touch screen for setting options and reviewing images. I didn't think I would make much use of a touch screen before I started using it, but I wouldn't want to be without it now.
