The videochip does support 1920x1200 resolutions (look under 2D Graphics on the AMD webpage), but it may not be able to power both the external and internal monitors at high resolution (so you may have to disable the internal LCD). (Assuming you're talking about a laptop).

However, there are other concerns. First, you usually don't want to use a LCD monitor at a resolution other than the native resolution. When you do, the monitor typically rescales the content to still fill the screen, causing things to look rather blurry.

Secondly, you plan on connecting the monitor with a D-SUB connection. While this will work, it's an old analog connection and image quality may be significantly below what you could get with a digital (DVI-D or HDMI) connection.

Long story short: It'll probably work, but your machine won't be able to get the most out of the Dell monitor.
