Why no K5 IIs kit?

I emailed Pentax to see if they planned to offer the K5 IIs with a kit lens. The DA 18-135 on that body would be an absolutely killer combination. Their response: no, it doesn't look like we will.
Sometimes I think Pentax USA is nothing more than a distributor for Pentax Japan, and that they have no ability to give American customers what they want. I'm also pretty irritated that there's no K5 IIs on offer. After reading comparisons between the Nikon 800 and 800e, I'm ready to take a chance on a no-AA camera. I'm even willing to pay an extra $100 for "fewer" features.
But since I don't currently own any Pentax glass, I'm looking at:
K5 II w/ DA 18-135: $1549
K5 IIs w/ DA 18-135: $1828 ($1,299 + $529)
Thus, if you don't already own the 18-135, you're paying $279 extra for the IIs.
Ouch! Please fix this, Pentax.
