What a coincidence. I stopped by Houston Camera Exchange one of the few true photo stores in the city, to try the D600 and the Fuji X Pro, since the X-E1 has not been released yet.

Well, I found no difference in size and weight of the D600 with the kit lens compared to my D7000 with the 16-85. Then I tried it with the 24-120, and it was just a tad heavier, but nothing that I could not live with.

I compared both viewfinders, and obviously the D600's was a little larger and brighter, however the D7000 was not sloch at all.

Performance wise, the D600 seemed just a tiny bit faster ( autofocus) than the D7000 and to my eyes the low light performance at iso 6400 looked like my D7000 at iso 1600.

Then the bad news, they had NO clue that there was a firmware update for the Fuji Xpro..... therefore, I experimented the excruciating low light autofocus that many had been frustrated with...... However, I loved the camera itself, size, weight and low light image quality. To my eyes iso 3200 was like iso 1600 on the D7000.

In conclusion, I might buy the XE-1 or rent it to try it out on a weekend.

These Fuji cameras are special as they look like old film cameras and people just do not pay attention to them. In the other hand, every time that someone catch me pointing with my D7000, they either get frighten, or just ask me if I am a PRO.....

Sadly, there is nothing perfect in this world. I am used to shoot 1000 piicture in one day, and the Fujis are well known to EAT batteries. I would probably need 3 per day......

In addition to that, I hope that Adobe addresses the well known issue with Xpro raw files......., since I am a raw shooter.......
