Thanks! Wow, that is pretty disappointing. There is a huge list of lenses (including the 70-300L) that only supports the center group of 21 cross points. After reading so many great reviews about the 5DIII's AF system (with 61 points, 41 cross type), I had never heard about this limitation. The main reason I got the 5DIII was to avoid having to "focus and recompose" by using accurate outer points. Now I'm reduced to using the center points with one of my favorite lenses. Canon should really be more upfront about this major limitation.

By the way, I dont think I had this issue with my old 7D. All points seemed to work with all lenses.
