5D3 should never have been priced above $3K.

Canon is missing an opportunity here. 6D should be around $1800, 5D3 around $2600, and a high res 3D(?) model, assuming it's not in a full size body, could be priced around $3500.

Canon still has an edge in glass but loyalty will be tested if they charge $4k+ for a high res camera while Nikon is offering 36mp for under $3K with a Sony sensor that allows for this kind of shadow recovery:
