Need help with infrared photography

Hey guys,

Can anyone please help me out with infrared photography? I currently use a Canon T1i, and I purchased this filter on Amazon, but I haven't been getting the desired effect. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003U65A7E/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

For example, this is the best my camera could do after some editing in CS5.

Just as a reference, here is the first picture I took (unaltered).

Is it because the filter is 720nm that I'm not getting those beautiful effects? Should I consider getting a different filter, or is it that my Canon T1i isn't meant for IR photography? Thanks in advance, guys.
