ZS20 plus 2x extender
Sep 25, 2012

I tried a cheap 2X telephoto extender on my ZS20 hoping that I might be able to squeeze out at least a little bit of extra detail at maximum tele settings. The result is shown at right, with an image taken without the extender on the left.

The 2X extender, which cost less than $20, is labelled "Digital High Definition 2X Telephoto Lens". Bye, Bye $20 !!! Anyone know of a better alternative that doesn't cost $200?

You can make an adapter for the ZS20 by gluing or bolting a threaded tube to a tripod quick release plate, mounting the camera on the plate using a washer to vertically align the lens with the tube. I used a filter adapter tube for an FZ100, which has a 58mm thread. It works just fine for filters or close-up lenses.
