I suppose the word "better" is in the eye of the beholder.

The G1X is better at taking low light photos than the G12 (and I assume the G15). The noise at 12800 ISO is amazingly small. Saying it can take bigger photos misses the point. There's so much more that can be said: the quality of the lens and the sensor make for some great photos at any size.

The G15 will be a better "sports" camera if the AF is as fast as they say. The G1X is not a sports camera.

It all depends on what you want or need for one camera to be "better" than another.

A lot of people here say the G1X is HEAVY. I don't think it's heavy. It certainly weighs more than the G12 but the footprint is small enough to fit in my backpack or on my belt with a Lowepro soft case.
