Gigabit NIC on MacBook Air - Success !
Sep 25, 2012

Just got myself a USB 3.0 gigabit Ethernet adapter and now file transfers are so much faster than over the wireless to my network storage... Lack of a built-in NIC is no longer a big deal.

I use 24mp full frame Sony A900 so my files are quite big and it is not uncommon to have tens of gigs from shoot. At first i used wireless, then thought to copy first to my USB 3.0 drive then to my redundant network storage. But it was still taking too long. Now though - nice and fast.

The adapter I got is from http://www.usb3gigabit.com , but now i'm wondering - any way i can buy a second one and use 2 a the same time to double the transfer speed?

Mac has a solid state drive and i'm getting same gigabit speed as i do on the wired Mac Pro with built-in card.
