Thanks Alex. The only issue with using Exposure Compensation is that it will reduce background brightness too, which is something you want to capture.
I was really just wondering if RX100 had some knobs to adjust the flash compensation in iAuto setting. If not, perhaps they need to come up with a better algorithm for dealing with this night/indoor portrait situation. That is the only thing I find disappointing about it. I wish they'd tweak it with firmware.
Ofcourse, you could bounce the flash and that is fine, unless you hand over the camera to a passerby to take your picture or even use a tripod.
