DxO for Oly OMD is out – Pany in trouble?
Sep 24, 2012

DxO finally released the results for the OMD sensor. Basically, in line with Sony APSC sensors because they are using a Sony sensor. Lower score because of smaller sensor.

For a while, some observers were comparing the OMD's IQ to FF!!! But, the more experienced people recognized the signs of heavy NR.

Compare that with the 24mp Nikon D3200 selling at the $500 price point (body alone).

The implication is negative for Pany. Their sensor technology is behind Canon, Sony and Nikon. Can they continue to use their own sensors? Their ILC market share is only 5%!

Will Pany use Sony sensors too? Is there a chance of a change in strategy? Are they making money?
