I have this lens and I use it primarily for landscapes at f/8 - f/11. But I use it at 2.8 occasionally too when the subject is close and I want to get a nice blur on the background. Also, pretty useful at night or in a cave. You might get a better response in the Third Party Lens Talk forum.

I lug my photo equipment everywhere. Is it heavy? Sure. Is it uncomfortable and cumbersome? Absolutely. Is it often an inconvenience? You bet. But is it all worth it? Maybe.
